A peanut butter sandwich put Robert Pruett in quite a jam.
The Texas death row inmate was executed tonight for killing
a prison guard in 1999 while serving a 99-year sentence for another murder. Pruett
supposedly stabbed the guard in a fit of rage after the guard forbade Pruett
from taking a sandwich into the recreation yard, which would have violated
prison rules.
Pruett probably never wanted to see peanut butter again
after his conviction. For his last meal, Pruett was served a chicken patty, mashed
potatoes, country gravy, black-eyed peas, corn, sliced bread, hamburger chili,
and crackers, with a choice of water, tea, or punch to drink. Because Texas no
longer allows special meal requests, Pruett was served the same food as others
in his unit.
This was the most controversial execution of the year. This is one of the cases I'm not sure if he deserved it. I hope he was guilty so Texas didn't kill an innocent man.

ReplyDeleteThat's true but stil I hope they have the right person executed. Also for the slain officer so his killer was executed not some other killer (that might have deserved it)
DeleteWrong. He was a fifteen years old child who was present when his father murdered someone. This man was innocent the day he was locked up and innocent of Nagle's murder too.
ReplyDeleteWrong snook Robert was the one arguing whit that someone (his neighbor) got his father and brother to help him. And when his father was killing him he punched kicked and held him down. Later they fled the scene.if he was innocent of Nagle's murder I don't know. Most dead row inmates claim innocence. But the circumstances abort the conviction are blurry so I hoped he was innocent I once mailed HM and got an reaction back so I followed the case and have mixed feelings about the execution. I hope since Robert was executed that the case is solved for officer Nagel's loved ones
