Daily Special for Jones
Spending 35 years on death row can kill a man’s hopes, kill
his dreams, and apparently kill his appetite. Brandon Astor Jones, executed by
the state of Georgia early this morning for his part in a 1979 gas station robbery and
murder, chose not to order a special last meal and was given the same food as
others in his unit. For his last meal, Jones had chicken and rice, rutabagas,
seasoned turnip greens, dry white beans, cornbread, bread pudding, and fruit
punch.
